Electric poultry netting
Portable electrified mesh fencing used to expand a chicken's safe range while deterring ground predators.
Electric poultry netting is a portable fence made of mesh netting with fine electrified strands woven through it, supported by built-in stakes that push into the ground. It is powered by an energizer, either solar or plugged in, that delivers a mild but effective shock strong enough to deter foxes, dogs, and other ground predators from testing the fence line, while still letting keepers move the whole setup to a new area in under an hour.
This portability makes it a popular way to expand a flock's safe range well beyond a fixed run without building permanent fencing, and it pairs naturally with rotational grazing since the enclosed area can be shifted every few days or weeks to fresh ground. Keeping grass and weeds trimmed low along the base of the netting matters, since vegetation touching the electrified strands can short out the charge and quietly leave the fence doing nothing.
A common mistake is assuming electric netting protects against every threat, when in practice it does nothing against aerial predators like hawks that strike from above the fence line entirely. Regularly checking the energizer's output with a fence tester, rather than just assuming it is working, catches a shorted or drained system before a predator does.
